This article will walk through how to use and share Embeddable Channels with ScreenCloud. Channels function similarly to a TV channel, giving you the ability to group and organize content in a meaningful way, by theme, usage, department, topic, or any other way you'd like. You can also use channels to give every team a voice, for instance, if you have multiple offices you can provide a corporate playlist that each office can add to their own channel, giving them the power to mix content from headquarters with departments or location-specific messaging.
Using Embeddable Channels you can give employees everywhere the ability to gain access to the same content in your organization’s Channels, but in a browser, website, or embedded in your intranet or other employee communication channel. This is useful for companies with employees working remotely, based at home, or as a way to keep your teams connected from anywhere in the world. You can also use this feature to share and embed your playlists.
Please note, Channels is only currently available as a feature for our customers using the newer Studio version of ScreenCloud (signing up after December 2019). For those of you who are using our older Signage (2015) version of ScreenCloud, our team is currently looking into ways to embed content and updates will be available soon.
Table of contents:
1. Create or setup a channel
Please note, if you're interested in using this feature, to contact us at email@example.com. A member of our team will be able to turn on the embeddable channels feature for you. Once this has been activated, you can follow the steps noted below.
1.1. Get started by visiting your "Channels" section of your ScreenCloud account.
1.2. If you have an existing channel, you can skip to Step 2 for steps on sharing. If you're new to creating a channel or need support with set up, please click here to view ScreenCloud's guide on how to set up channels.
2. Choose a channel to share
2.1. Once you've set or decided on a channel to use, hover over the channel and select the "Share" icon. Please note, you can also use this feature to share and embed playlists.
2.2. A pop-up window will prompt with options for which Spaces (e.g. teams) you can share this channel to within your ScreenCloud account and the "Share with others" option. Navigate to this section.
3. Activate to copy or embed your channel
3.1. Using the "Share with others" option, select the drop-down menu and activate the embed code by selecting either "Anyone with the link can view" or "Anyone in your X account can view".
Please note, the "Anyone in your X account can view" limits the Embeddable Channel to only users who have access to your ScreenCloud account with credentials to access the account.
This will allow only users for your ScreenCloud account to have access to the content by logging in when they visit the link as exampled below.
3.2. Once enabled, you have two options for sharing your channel:
i) Copy: using this option, you can click the "Copy" button to share your channel directly as a link. You can share the link in emails, messages, and more to directly provide your teammates with access to view content.
For example, if you were to copy and paste the link into your web browser, you'd be able to view your channel directly from the link provided. The end-user can select "Start Playing" to view scheduled content from your shared channel. Please note, if the link is restricted to "Anyone in your X account can view" then you'll be required to login with your ScreenCloud credentials before viewing content.
ii) Embed: using this option, you can click the "Embed" button to generate an iFrame code to share your channel as a virtual player. For example, you can use this option to directly embed the channel into your company intranet, a website, or anywhere you'd like that can display an iFrame player.
Select "Copy" and you'll automatically copy the embed code to your device. You can then use the code anywhere you'd like which supports an iFrame player to embed and use the virtual player to display your channel.
3.3. Either using the "Copy" or "Embed" function, you're all set to begin sharing your embeddable channel to your company and teammates.

4.4. Can I also embed playlists or other content?
Yes, this feature can also be used to share your playlists. Visit the "Playlists" section of your account and use the "Share" option next to any playlist for copying or embedding a playlist.
4.5. Are there any limits to the number of channels that can be embeddable?
There are no limits and you can share or embed as many channels as you'd like.
4.6. Are users required to log in to view channels shared from a ScreenCloud account?
This option is available while sharing an Embeddable Channel or Playlist by using the "Anyone in your X account can view" feature for the shared link. This will prompt users to sign in with their ScreenCloud credentials to view the content.
4.7. How can I turn off or disable an embeddable channel?
You can disable or turn off a channel from being shared by clicking on the "Shared" option while hovering over your channel. From here, visit the "Share with others" section and use the drop-down menu to switch your channel settings to "Disable link". Please note, this will deactivate the virtual player and stop any content from being displayed via the URL or iFrame code you've shared or embeddable.
4.8. I've noticed some videos are not playing or working with sound, how do I fix this?
In these cases, commonly this could be due to trying to use an embeddable channel URL or iFrame while viewing the player from a Google Chrome web browser. Google has an autoplay policy that restricts video and audio playback while browsing on websites while using Chrome, requiring a user-press or gesture to enable the video and/or audio to activate. You can learn more by clicking here.
For example, while using ScreenCloud's YouTube App, you might notice that the videos will not play automatically. If you switch the videos to "Mute" while setting up the YouTube app in ScreenCloud, this will enable the autoplay policy while using a Google Chrome device or browser to play the video automatically.
4.9. How can I set up my embeddable player to autoplay on other websites or services?
You can allow your embeddable channels or playlists to autoplay once loaded. This will allow the link to begin auto-playing in other sites, without requiring users to manually select the play button or need to interact with the player. In order to do this, you can add the following string to the end of your shared embeddable player URL:
