This brief guide will walk you through how to set up the ScreenCloud Microsoft PowerBI app for digital signage.

1. How can I create a dashboard or project management board?
If you need guidance on creating reports using Microsoft, you can click here for Microsoft's support article on how to create a PowerBI report. Please note, to use Microsoft Power BI, users must enable service principles in their PowerBI tenant. You aren’t required to create a service principal or adjust any other configuration other than enabling the service principal setting from your account. This allows third-party applications, such as ScreenCloud, to connect using secure OpenID Connect (OIDC) protocols.

2. How can I set up and connect my Microsoft PowerBI Dashboard with ScreenCloud?
We'll walk you through how to set up your Microsoft PowerBI dashboard in your ScreenCloud account. Please note, you'll need to have connected with a member of our team first to activate the Microsoft PowerBi App before you're able to use password-protected dashboards or websites in your account.
2.1. Connect with our team to activate Microsoft PowerBI: using Microsoft PowerBi is an enterprise premium add-on feature, which is an additional cost to your ScreenCloud subscription. Please get in touch with our team by clicking here and we advise you to review the ScreenCloud Pricing Page here.
2.2. Set up your Microsoft PowerBI Dashboard: once your account is activated to use Microsoft PowerBI, please log into your ScreenCloud account to start adding your password-protected sites. This example will go through how to set up a PowerBI dashboard:
i) Visit the "Apps" section of your account. Click on "App Store".
ii) Search for "Microsoft PowerBI", then select and click "Install App".
iii) From here, you'll be prompted to sign in to your Microsoft Power BI account. Click "Sign In" and proceed to add secure credentials into ScreenCloud by selecting "Add Account".
Please note, if your organization uses or would like to set up two-factor authentication for your logins, click here to view Microsoft's support article for setting up two-factor authentication. This is required through Microsoft in order to log in using this method with ScreenCloud.
iv) You'll be prompted to add a name to your social account, then click "Add Credentials" to prompt a sign-in page for Microsoft.
v) Sign in to your Microsoft account and the system will confirm your Microsoft Power BI account has been added into ScreenCloud. Click "Add Account" once you're done to verify the connection.
vi) Once complete, you will receive a notification that the credentials are stored. Now you can toggle between reports and dashboards to display from your account.
Please note, you can also add additional accounts to display following these instructions and manage them as displayed below.
vii) You can simply change your account configuration, the available workspaces, and select between reports or dashboards you would like to display respectively. You have the ability to browse through the reports or dashboards.
viii) For reports, you have the ability to choose a page, add filters, and assign customization options to your digital display. For instance, you have the option to "Cycle through all pages in the report" and set a duration period for each page as exampled below.
Or you can leave the "Cycle through all pages report" option turned off by default.
ix) With filtering, you can specify focusing on certain items of your report, or omitting information. For instance, the example below shows how to add a Table name, Column name, Operator, and Value respectively. Once completed, you can click "Add" to set this filter.

x) Once you have completed your setup, you can give your Microsoft PowerBI app a unique name to find it later and "Preview" to see how your report will display on your digital screens.
Select "Save" and you can now add the Microsoft PowerBI instance to your screens.
xi) You can now start displaying your Microsoft Power BI app on your digital screens by scheduling it using Channels, setting it to a playlist, or independently. You can view ways you can set content on your digital screens using ScreenCloud by clicking here.
3. Frequently asked questions
How often does the website or dashboard refresh to show the latest data on screen?
The refresh rate of data is done directly through Microsoft PowerBI, this is depending on the account type which is being used on Microsoft's platform. ScreenCloud functions by reloading the report on the screen and any new updates to the report will become reflected during this. ScreenCloud does not real-time refresh the data, the report is only reloaded, and if there has been a refresh rate of data set directly on the Microsoft PowerBI report. Is there any way to embed or share ScreenCloud content in a website or intranet?
Yes, this can be done using ScreenCloud's Embeddable Channels or Embeddable Playlists feature. This is also an enterprise premium add-on feature that you can set up a trial with ScreenCloud for sharing web links or embedding your content on websites or services.
