by Santino

This article will go through how you can use ScreenCloud's Slack App for quickly displaying important messages and updates across your screens that are sent from your mobile device on the go.

Slack can be used as more than a messaging or engagement tool between you and your teams. With ScreenCloud for digital signage, you can connect a free Slack account with your displays to show messages in real-time on-screen. You can use this feature as a way to send messages quickly using your iOS or Android smartphone for displaying updates on screen for teams across any office or organization. This is useful if you need to show critical or immediate notices across your screens.

5. Send a message to your screens from your mobile device

1. Download Slack to your mobile device

To get started, visit the app store for iOS device or Google Play on your Android device to download Slack.

 2. Create a free Slack account

Please visit Slack and sign up for a free account. If you have a Slack account, you can continue onto step 3 of this article.

3. Create a channel in Slack for your messages

Once you've signed up for Slack, you can start by creating a channel for your messages that you can access from your smartphone app. You can learn how to create a channel in Slack by clicking here.

For example, if you're using the Slack app to send office notifications or emergency messages on the screen then create a channel named "office-notifications" or "emergency-messages". This will help you find it easily when connecting Slack together with your ScreenCloud account.

4. Connect your Slack channel with ScreenCloud

4.1. Please visit ScreenCloud's Slack app guide for quick step-by-step instructions on how to connect your Slack account. This walks you through how to start using the app on your screens.

4.2. Select your channel, for example, you can select the "office-notifications" from the list that appears once you sign in with your Slack account while connecting the app with ScreenCloud. For this example, we've selected the channel "alerts-root". Once you've chosen your channel, scroll down to the bottom of the list and click "Ok" to save your settings.

4.3. Once connected you can select "Latest Message" as your layout and "Show All" for the message filter. This will ensure that the latest message sent from your mobile device to that Slack channel will appear on the screen automatically. You can also click on the "Instance Name" in the upper left-hand corner to give the app a unique name for you to reference later.

4.4. Click on the yellow "Save" button and the instance will be available in the ScreenCloud App Store. You can now assign the Slack app into a channel, playlist, or cast it directly to your screen for immediate updates. To learn more about how to perform screen takeovers with ScreenCloud's casting feature, please click here.

 5. Send a message to your screens from your mobile device

5.1. Once connected, visit the Slack app on your mobile device or smartphone.

5.2. Find the channel you've connected with ScreenCloud, for example, "office-notifications" as displayed below.

5.3. Type and send any message to the channel that you'd like to display across your screens.

This message will now automatically appear on any screen you're using the Slack app with.

Please note, messages will only update while your device running the ScreenCloud app is connected to the internet or has a stable connection. If you're seeing any outdated or old messages showing on the screen, please double-check your internet connection and contact
